Asian Cup Host Countries Face Terror Threat

A terrorism warning has been issued in Thailand, co-host of the 2007 Asian Cup, along with Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Thai police said Wednesday that they had strengthened safety measures in Bangkok following reports that Islamic separatists may carry out terrorist activities during the soccer tournament. Currently, the Thai capital is hosting matches for Group A teams.

Australia, which is taking part in the soccer event for the first time, is reportedly seeking ways to protect its players and staff from any possible terrorist threats.
