A survey has found that most Korean Internet users have watched videos online created by other users.
The National Internet Development Agency on Saturday said that it had conducted a survey of two-thousand Korean Internet users aged 12 to 49.
According to the survey's results, 83-point-five percent of those polled said they had watched user-created content, or UCC, at least once.
Eight percent of the UCC videos they watched were funny scenes or unusual occurrences, while 58 percent were about hobbies and leisure. Another 50 percent were about celebrities.
Seventy-seven percent of those polled said they used UCC bulletin boards on major Internet portals, followed by web logs and mini personal homepages.
Seventy-five percent of the respondents said they produced UCC videos to share knowledge and information, while another 66 percent did it to please their friends or make new friends.
An agency official said that UCC is spreading rapidly as a tool for individual expression or corporate promotions, indicating that the Internet is becoming more and more user-oriented.
