Residents of Pyeongchang City in Gangwon Province will hold a rally in support of their city's bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics, as the International Olympic Committee prepares to select the host city.

About three-thousand Pyeongchang residents are expected to take part in the event starting early Thursday, when IOC President Jacques Rogge is scheduled to announce the host city.

Meanwhile, domestic and foreign media outlets including CNN, NHK and The Associated Press have already sent reporters to Pyeongchang to cover reactions to the announcement.
