'Pyeongchang, Sochi Likely to Advance to Final Round'

South Korean and Russian cities bidding for the right to host the 2014 Winter Olympics are likely to face off in the final vote.

The Associated Press reported that Austria’s Salzburg was likely to be eliminated in the first round.

However, the report cautioned that secret votes were unpredictable and that many of the International Olympic Committee members could be swayed by the final presentations.

It cited IOC President Jacques Rogge as saying that four or five votes could make the difference out of a total 97 up for grabs in the first round.

Meanwhile, a U.S. daily, the Chicago Tribune, also projected that Pyeongchang and Sochi would advance to the final round.
