Gangwon Governor Vows Efforts to Win Olympic Bid

Gangwon Province Governor Kim Jin-sun has pledged to do his utmost for Pyeongchang City to win the right to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Kim on Thursday expressed confidence that the Pyeongchang bid would be successful, predicting a win if the bid committee makes a good impression in its final presentation before the International Olympic Committee in Guatemala.

A 60-member delegation from the Pyeongchang bid committee will leave for Guatemala City on Friday along with the governor, committee chief Han Seung-soo and Korean Olympic Committee President Kim Jung-kil.

The IOC will select the host city on July fourth at its general assembly in the Guatemalan capital after hearing presentations from Russia's Sochi, Austria's Salzburg and Pyeongchang.

IOC President Jacques Rogge will announce the results of the vote.
