SK Ranked 11th in Publishing Scientific Papers

South Korean scientists and engineers are eleventh in the world in terms of papers published in international academic journals.

The Education Ministry says that a review of the Science Citation Index showed South Korea published over 22-thousand scientific papers last year as it moved up a notch from the previous year.

By institution, Seoul National University published 36-hundred papers and ranked 32nd among world universities. Yonsei University was listed at 106th place with over 18-hundred published articles. Sungkyunkwan University published 15-hundred and took 146th place.

Among the top 100 schools in terms of the number of published articles, 51 were American, which published a total of 303-thousand papers. Next on the list were Britain, Japan and Germany.
