South Korean golfer Pak Se Ri has joined the World Golf Hall of Fame, becoming the first Asian to receive the honor.
Pak fulfilled the final requirements for entrance into the Hall after competing in the McDonald’s LPGA Championship on Friday.
After carding a one-over-par 73 at the Bulle Rock Golf Course in the U.S. state of Maryland Friday, Pak told reporters that it was the happiest day of her life as one of her biggest dreams had come true.
With her win at the 2004 Michelob Ultra Open, she had accumulated 29 points, exceeding the 27-point requirement for induction into the Hall of Fame. However, she had to wait for Friday's tournament to complete her final requirement of playing ten seasons as an active member on the LPGA tour.
Since her impressive first victory at the 1998 LPGA championships, Pak has won five majors and over 20 other events in the United States.
Pak will be inducted on November 12th at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, along with former major champions Curtis Strange and Hubert Green.
