Korea has been recognized as one of the world’s best countries in mathematics.
The International Mathematical Union raised the rating of Korea’s math competitiveness by two notches from Level Two to Level Four after an eight-month long review that began last October.
The upgrade will go into effect from June first.
The IMU rates the math competitiveness of countries in five categories on a one-to-five scale.
Ratings by the organization are finalized by a vote of member countries.
Level Four includes the Netherlands, Brazil, Switzerland, Sweden and India.
Eight countries comprise the top Level Five: Germany, Russia, the United States, Britain, Italy, Japan, France and Canada.
