SK Sweeps OLED Patents for 2006

Korean companies submitted more than half of all patents last year for Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (OLEDs), one of the world's most advanced display technologies.

According to a market survey institute, OLEDnet, out of the patents registered in Korea, Japan and the U.S., Korea holds more than one-thousand-360 or 52 percent.

Japan came in second with 35 percent, followed by the U.S. and Taiwan.

Samsung SDI led the pack with almost 750 patents and LG Electronics came next with 270.
