2 Korean Seniors Climb Everest

Two Koreans in their 60s have conquered Mount Everest, the world's highest peak.

The Corean Alpine Club says that 66-year-old Kim Seong-bong and 63-year-old Lee Jang-woo started their last climb at 10:43 am Friday, Korean time, and reached the summit around 1:15 p.m.

The feat comes 50 days after they flew to the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu on March 24th.

The club said that in September it recruited an expedition team of members over age 60 and selected eight finalists after rigorous physical testing.

It says that the 66-year-old Kim is the oldest Korean to climb Everest thus far.
