The nation retained its top status in terms of access to information technology (IT) for a third straight year in 2007.

The International Telecommunication Union has ranked the nation atop the Digital Opportunity Index among 181 countries three years in a row.

The index evaluates a country’s information and communications development by analyzing related infrastructure, broadband penetration, utilization rates among the population and eight other categories.

Japan was ranked second followed by Denmark, Iceland and Singapore.
