Park JS Becomes First Asian Premiership Title Holder

Midfielder Park Ji-sung of Manchester United has become the first Asian soccer player to join in a Premiership title.

Park added his name to the list of 134 soccer players who have won the title since the 1992-to-1993 season when the English Premier League was launched.

He played 14 games this season, becoming eligible for a title by playing in more than a quarter of the season's 38 matches.

Park has been sidelined for the past month with a knee injury, and underwent surgery in the United States last week to repair some torn cartilage.

Manchester United claimed its 16th Premiership title on Monday, following Chelsea's tie with Arsenal.
