Soccer star Park Ji-sung of England's Manchester United is the most popular athlete in Korea.

A KBS poll of 1,000 people has found that 28 percent pick Park as their favorite sportsman.

Second was baseball slugger Lee Seung-yeop of Japan's Yomiuri Giants, followed by teenage swimming prodigy Park Tae-hwan and figure skating star Kim Yu-na.

Soccer defender Lee Young-pyo of England's Tottenham Hotspur and pitcher Park Chan-ho of the New York Mets shared the fifth spot.

Over half of the respondents said they are most interested in soccer when watching sports news.
