Park Ji-sung to Stay Off Field Due to Injury

Korean soccer star Park Ji-sung is expected to be sidelined for a long time due to a knee injury suffered last month, extending his absence from the British soccer club Manchester United.

The club's chief executive David Gill said Friday in Seoul that the Korean midfielder is in the United States for a medical examination of his knee.

The Gill is visiting Korea to discuss a friendly match with FC Seoul in July.

He said that Manchester United will have to wait and see how long it will take for Park to fully recover from the injury.

Earlier in the day, the Internet edition of Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper reported that Park will not be able to play for up to a year.

However, Gill said that the British media is prone to exaggerate, suggesting that Park may be able to come back sooner.
