S. Korea Beat Uzbekistan in Olympic Soccer Qualifier

South Korea beat Uzbekistan one to zero in a regional Olympic soccer preliminary in Tashkent late Wednesday.

Midfielder Baek Ji-hoon scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute of the second half, securing a spot in the Olympic pre-matches regardless of the results of the Korean team's remaining two matches.

With a four-game winning streak in the preliminary group, the South Korean squad has retained its top spot in Group F.

The South Korean team will play against Yemen on May 15th and the United Arab Emirates on June sixth.

Twelve nations, namely the winners and runners-up from Asia's six preliminary groups, will be divided into three separate groups.

The three winners from those groups will qualify for the Beijing Olympic finals next year.
