Incheon Named Host for 2014 Asian Games

Incheon has been named the host city for the 2014 Summer Asian Games by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

In the OCA’s vote in Kuwait on Tuesday, Incheon secured 32 votes out of the council’s total 45 member countries, winning over India’s New Delhi.

The port city competed fiercely with the Indian capital city, which had publicly offered free flights and accommodation to participants in an attempt to win the bid.

Amid heated competition, Incheon won the bid by securing the support of many of the previously undecided Middle Eastern countries.

Incheon will become the third Korean city to host the Asian Games following Seoul in 1986 and Busan in 2002.
