SNU Launches Probe into Research on Cloned Wolves

Seoul National University says it has begun a review into suspicions surrounding a university research team's work on cloned wolves.

The university told reporters that the review of the work of Professor Lee Byeong-chun and his team began last Thursday.

The team claimed in late March that they had produced the world's first cloned wolves with the birth of two pups in late 2005.

Some suspected that the researchers manipulated data to inflate their success rate and that the paper in which they announced their feat included errors.

The school, however, did not shut down the team's research lab since serum samples from the blood of cloned wolves and dogs used in the cloning were secured.
