Arirang-2’s Satellite Images Disclosed

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute has released images of Seoul and Pyongyang shot from space by the domestic satellite Arirang-Two in February.

The resolution of images taken by the recently launched satellite is far clearer than that produced by the older Arirang-One, which went into service in 1999.

The newer satellite has a high-resolution camera that can recognize a car on the street from space.

The Pyongyang image features the Okryu Bridge, automobiles and a trackless tram.

The Arirang-Two moves in a northwesterly orbit and photographs the Korean Peninsula two or three times a week.
