North Korea's top sports official has expressed his support for a South Korean bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
North Korean sports official Chang Ung, who also sits on the International Olympic Committee (IOC), said Friday that the event will be good for people in both South and North Korea.
Chang made the comment after his arrival in Seoul, leading a 49-member taekwondo delegation on a four-day visit as head of the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF).
Asked about Pyeongchang's prospects to host the Winter Olympiad during an interview with a South Korean TV station, Chang said that even though he can't disclose his official opinion on Pyeongchang's bid, things should go well.
Pyeongchang, a city in the eastern Gangwon Province, is competing with Salzburg, Austria and Sochi, Russia to host the international sports event.
