Samsung Develops Fusion Memory Chip

Samsung Electronics says it has developed a new memory chip that combines the best features of different memory chips.

The fusion chip dubbed Flex-OneNAND was unveiled Tuesday at the Samsung Mobile Solution Forum held in Taiwan, along with four other new products. The forum was attended by some one-thousand local IT industry representatives.

The nation’s largest chipmaker said that the new fusion memory product combines the merits of two different kinds of flash memory, bringing together the fast data transfer of single-level cells and the large capactiy of multi-level cells.
