Gov't to Enact Robot Ethics Charter

The government is planning to enact an ethics charter on robotics.

The Commerce, Industry and Energy Ministry says it will complete the charter this year that will stipulate desired robot technology developments, ethical boundaries, user ethics and ethical standards on reconstructing and destroying robots.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has also been discussing the matter since 2004 when it formed a technical committee on robot-related ethics. A European robot research network will also soon draft and unveil an ethics road map.
