Soccer Team to Leave for U-16 Women's Championship

South Korea's under-16 national women’s soccer team will compete in the Asia Football Confederation U-16 Women’s Championship.

The 23-member team led by coach Kim Yong-ho will leave Sunday for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to face China on Thursday for its first match in Group A. The team will meet Australia on March tenth.

South and North Korea could face off in the next round if the South Korean team takes the first or second spot in Group A. The strong North Korean team, which belongs to Group B, is expected to easily advance to the next round.

The top three teams in the tournament will advance to FIFA’s first U-17 Women’s Championship set to open in New Zealand next January.
