An inspection team from the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has begun their evaluation of Daegu City which is bidding to host the 2011 world championships.

The inspectors will tour facilities, including a 65-thousand-seat stadium and the site for the proposed new athletes and media village.

Daegu’s bidding committee is seeking to gather support by emphasizing the city’s experience in hosting universiades and World Cup soccer matches.

The inspection team will wrap up their assessment on Saturday with a news conference.

The international athletics governing body will choose the final venue during a council meeting in Mombasa, Kenya, on March 27th.

The southeastern Korean city is competing with Moscow, Barcelona and Brisbane to host the world championships.
