IOC Delegates Wrap up 4-day Inspection

International Olympic Committee officials on Friday began their final day of field inspections to evaluate the bid of Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, as it vies for the right to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

IOC delegates heard presentations on detailed plans for financing, customs and immigration before visiting sports facilities in nearby Gangneung, the proposed venue for skating, curling and ice hockey.

Local residents wearing traditional clothing of the IOC delegates’ home countries welcomed the inspection team.

The IOC team will hold a news conference in Seoul on Saturday after a wrap-up meeting at the Yongpyeong resort. The inspectors will then fly to Sochi, Russia, which is competing with Pyeongchang and Salzburg, Austria to become host of the 2014 Winter Olympiad.
