North Korea’s national youth soccer team may hold its spring training in South Korea.

A South Korean association for inter-Korean sports exchanges said Tuesday that it was discussing arrangements with the North. The arrangements would include hosting the team's
one month-long training in the South’s resort island of Jeju and holding a friendly match with the South Korean national youth team.

The sports association said that the two sides agreed to the training arrangement but had not fixed the detailed schedule.

The North Korean team comprising athletes 17 years of age and under will participate in the under-17 youth soccer world championship hosted by South Korea in August.

North Korea came in second at the FIFA-sponsored event last year and is aiming to advance to the semifinals again this year.
