University researchers working in cooperation with the firm SNP Genetics claim to have found a genetic mechanism associated with allergic disorders such as asthma and atopic syndrome.

A Soonchunhyang University Hospital research team led by Professor Park Chun shik said that they have discovered people with a certain genetic mutation were more susceptible to allergic disorders.

The researchers expected that the results would provide valuable insights into strategies to control allergies by helping accurately measure allergy risk.

Park’s paper will be published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
