The 2007 Pyeongchang Dream Program, a training event aimed at promoting winter sports to young people, opened Monday in Gangwon Province.

Some one hundred-40 teenagers and officials from 33 countries will participate in this year's event hosted by the county of Pyeongchang.

Seoul-based ambassadors from participating countries like Algeria, Thailand and South Africa attended the annual program's opening ceremony.

Special lessons are scheduled by former national South Korean short track skater and Winter Olympics quadruple gold medalist Chun Lee-kyung and a famed Norwegian speed skater.

Training results for the program will be assessed at a "dream challenge contest" on Thursday morning. Later that day, Pyeongchang officials will hold a promotional gala for International Olympic Committee inspectors who are in Korea to evaluate the county's bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
