Golden Wednesday at Winter Asian Games

Wednesday was a 'golden' day for Korea at the sixth Winter Asian Games in Changchun, China.

A gold medal in speed skating and three in short track skating put Korea's medal tally at six golds, ten silvers and six bronzes, narrowing the gap with second-place Japan.

Leading skater Ahn Hyun-soo, who won three golds at last year's Winter Olympics in Turin, was disqualified from Tuesday's five-hundred meter due to a questionable referees' call that erased a first-place finish. But Ahn came back Wednesday to win the 15-hundred meter and the five-thousand meter relay.

Meanwhile, speed skater Lee Kyou-hyuk won the 15-hundred meter event and top skater Jin Sun-yu, also a triple gold medalist in Turin, won the women's thousand-meter.

Korea is aiming for a second-place finish for the third straight winter Asiad.
