Los Angeles is bidding for a chance to host what would be its third Summer Olympic Games.
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that the city on Monday submitted a bid to become the U.S. candidate city for the 2016 Games.
U.S. Olympic Committee officials will visit Los Angeles and Chicago for inspection tours from February twenty-eighth, before deciding the final candidate in April.
Los Angeles was the host city for the 1932 and 1984 Summer Olympics. China, the host of the 2008 Summer Games, has never hosted the event.
Currently, Tokyo, Budapest and Rio de Janeiro are also in the running for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The International Olympic Committee will name its pick in 2009.
