Lee Dong-gook to Join English Premier League

Striker Lee Dong-gook has become the fourth Korean to play in the English Premier League, following Park Ji-sung, Lee Young-pyo and Seol Ki-hyeon.

His home team Pohang Steelers announced that it has concluded negotiations with the Middlesbrough football club to send Lee to England.

The Steelers agreed to waive his contract without demanding transfer fees, but with the stipulation that Lee must rejoin the team if he returns to Korea.

It will be the Korean player's second stint with a European team in six years. He played briefly for Germany’s Werder Bremen in 2001 but struggled due to injuries.

He is expected to sign a contract with his new club soon.
