Domestically developed technology for processing radioactive waste has been exported to the U.S.

The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute says it signed a deal with Sandia National Laboratories to export the comprehensive processing system for thirty-thousand dollars.

Developed by Professor Hwang Yong-soo and his team as a Science Ministry project for three years, the database program is expected to enhance research study results and aid the preservation and retrieval of approval documents.

The institute in December exported a key software calculation module that assesses nuclear plant safety to a U.S. government agency.

Sandia laboratories is a U.S. government-owned facility operated by the private contractor Lockheed Martin.
