A research team at Seoul National University has agreed to conduct a software development project with the U.S. software giant Microsoft.

As outlined in a related memorandum of understanding, the firm will provide research funds for the next three years for a project to incorporate safety analysis software into the MS operating system.

The university said Monday that the software developed by Professor Kim Seung-jo and his team will be used widely in analyzing safety and durability of buildings and industrial machinery.

The exact amount of the research funds was not disclosed at the request of Microsoft.
