A pro-North Korean daily newspaper published in Japan reports that Pyongyang plans to send athletes to participate in one-hundred events at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
During an interview with the Choson Sinbo on Thursday, the head of the North Korean Olympic Committee Mun Jae-duck said that his country will field athletes from 20 sports in one hundred events. He said they would aim for top performances in judo, wrestling, boxing, shooting and weightlifting.
Mun also said that South and North Korea have reached agreement in many areas on the formation of a unified Olympic team and plan to hold further discussions on the most important issue of athlete selection.
