S. Korea, China, Japan to Cooperate in IT

South Korea, China and Japan have decided to strengthen Northeast Asia's role as a hub for the global information technology, or IT, industry.

Working closely together, they will develop and distribute information and communication technologies, standards and applications including next-generation mobile communication and Internet, radio frequency identification and sensor network fields.

The Science and Technology Ministry said that the three nations held a three-day IT meeting in Hainan, China that ended Thursday.

At the trilateral meeting, Seoul, Beijing and Tokyo agreed to expand cooperation from the public to private sectors.

The Northeast Asian nations pledged to lead developments for next-generation communications.
