Japan to Bid for 2016 Summer Olympics

The Japanese capital city of Tokyo will bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games.
The City of Tokyo said it was selected among many Japanese candidates to enter the bidding race.
Tokyo will finalize its proposal and submit it to the International Olympic Committee by fall this year.
Qatar and Brazil have also expressed an interest in staging the Summer Olympics in 2016.
Tokyo last hosted the Olympics in 1964.
