A professor at Wonkwang University in North Jeolla Province has been named Medical Scientist of the Year by Cambridge University's International Biographical Center.

The U.K.-based center chose dentistry professor Yoo Yong-wook as the year’s top medical researcher in recognition of his work on new materials and their roles to suppress oral and dental diseases. Yoo was listed in the Marquis Who’s Who biographical register last year.

The Cambridge center manages one of three major global directories along with the Marquis Who's Who and the American Biographical Center.
