The committee supporting the South Korean city of Pyeongchang's bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympics has named 17-year-old golf sensation Michelle Wie as a goodwill ambassador.

Committee chief Han Seung-soo says the golfer's appointment has greatly boosted promotion efforts.

Currently, 48 figures from home and abroad have been named to the honorary post.
