Funeral Service for Equestrian Kim Held

South Korean equestrian Kim Hyung-chil, who died in an accident while competing at the Asian Games in Doha, was laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Seoul Thursday.

Some two-hundred families, friends and senior sports officials bid their final farewell at a funeral service held at a Seoul hospital earlier in the day.

Among top sports officials on hand were Korean Olympic Committee chief Kim Jeong-gil and International Olympic Committee member Park Yong-sung.

The 46-year-old Kim was crushed to death after his horse fell on top of him while competing in the individual cross-country event last Thursday.

He was the first athlete to die while in competition in the 55-year history of the Asian Games.
