The government has honored ten South Korean scientists for their world-renowned scientific research.

The Education Ministry and the Korea Research Foundation have announced their annual list of ten top scientists: two mathematicians, four physicists, one chemist, one biologist and two earth science specialists.

The government will provide each nominee with 200-million won a year for experimental research or 100-million a year for theoretical research for the next five years.

The national research fund program began last year to encourage scientific research and to nurture future Nobel Prize winners.
