Late Horseman to Rest in Nat'l Cemetery

The remains of horseman Kim Hyung-chil, who died while competing in the Asian Games on Thursday, will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Seoul.

The Patriots and Veterans Affairs Ministry reached the decision on Monday.

Kim is the third athlete to be buried at the national cemetery. He joins marathoner Son Ki-jung, who became the first Korean to win an Olympic gold medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, and former Korea Sports Council Chairman Min Gwan-sik.

Kim's body arrived in Seoul on Sunday from Doha, Qatar. His funeral service is slated for Thursday.

The experienced and much-decorated horseman died after his horse fell on top of him in an individual cross-country event.
