Korean Rider's Remains Come Home

A memorial altar has been set up in Seoul for horseman Kim Hyung-chil who died while competing in the Asian Games last Thursday.

Mourners lined up to pay their respects to bereaved family members of Kim, whose remains arrived in the Incheon International Airport on Sunday afternoon from Doha.

A funeral service for Kim is scheduled to be held on Thursday. Kim’s remains will be laid to rest at the Daejon National Cemetery.

Kim died after his horse fell on top of him in the individual cross-country event at the Doha Racing and Equestrian Club. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a hospital.

Kim has been a member of Korea's equestrian team since the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul. He won a silver medal in the team competition at the 2002 Busan Asiad.
