The national men's soccer team has advanced to the semifinals of the Doha Asian Games in Qatar with a 3-0 victory over North Korea.

Kim Chi-woo opened the scoring in the 31st minute. Team captain Lee Chun-soo helped double the lead in the 34th minute with a precise pass to Yeom Ki-hun, who tapped it over the North Korean goalie Kim Myong-gil.

Jung Jo-gook finished the scoring with a goal in the 57th minute.

South Korea showed more decisiveness than in their previous games against Bangladesh, Vietnam and Bahrain.

The victory was the eighth consecutive shutout by South Korea in the Asian Games since the 2002 competition in Busan.

Gunning for gold for the first time in two decades, the team will take on Iraq in the semifinal Tuesday.
