South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan grabbed his third gold medal Thursday at the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar.
Park clinched the gold in the men’s 15-hundred-meter freestyle competition with a time of 14 minutes, 55-03 seconds, posting a new Asian Games record. It was the second time for Park to set a new record at the games, following his record in the 200-meter freestyle event on Sunday. He also won the 400-meter freestyle event on Tuesday.
Park also won a silver on Thursday in the 100-meter freestyle and three bronze medals in the men's 400-meter freestyle relay, the 800-meter relay and the 400-meter men's medley relay.
Meanwhile, in taekwondo, Lee Young-yeoul took the gold in the 72-kilogram category, while Shin Eun-chul won the nation’s first gold for rowing in the men's single sculls.
Another gold came from shooters Park Byung-taek, Hwang Yoon-sam and Jang Dae-kyu in the men's 25-meter standard pistol team event.
South Korea remains at third in the medal tally with 89 medals, including 18 gold, following China and Japan.
