Judoka Wins Nation's 1st Gold at Asiad

Judoka champion Jang Sung-ho has won the country's first gold medal in the men's 100-kilograms at the Doha Asian Games in Qatar.

The 28-year-old Jang on Saturday beat Japan's Satoshii Ishii by ippon.

Female judoka Lee So-yeon won a silver in the 78-kilogram class.

A slew of bronze medals were won in men's weightlifting, women's team table tennis team, men's team gymnastics and swimming, the men's 400-meter individual medley and the women's 400-meter medley relay.

The national soccer team also beat Vietnam 2-0 in its second group match.

South Korea's medal tally on the games' second day is one gold, two silver and seven bronze.
