Two Koreas to March Together at Doha Asian Games

The two Koreas will march together in the opening and closing ceremonies at the Doha Asian Games on Saturday.

In an inter-Korean meeting of sports officials in the Qatari capital Thursday, the two Koreas agreed that one-hundred-50 South Korean athletes and one-hundred-20 North Koreans will enter the ceremony, with one athlete from each of the Koreas together holding a Korean Peninsula flag with the image of the Dokdo Islets.

The two Koreas also discussed Thursday the idea of forming a joint team for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing but failed to reach an agreement as they differed on what standards to apply on forming the team.

The joint march will mark the eighth time for athletes from South and North Korea to walk together at an international sporting event since the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.
