Gangwon Province Governor Kim Jin-sun has vowed to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

He pledged his utmost to persuade International Olympic Committee members to support Pyeongchang's bid to host the games. He returned Monday from meetings of the Sports for All program in Cuba and the African Olympic Committee in Malawi.

Kim said that through the meetings, he realized that more elaborate strategies would be needed to win the bid, as the race to host the games heats up.

He vowed to highlight the merits of Gangwon Province at the general assembly of the European Olympic Committee and during IOC inspections slated for December.
