Gov't, Japan Coordinate Satellite Network Interference

The government and Japan have completed coordination on satellite network interference involving South Korea’s Mugunghwa-5 satellite.

Countries coordinate potential satellite interference through technical adjustments to prevent one country's satellite from interfering with the communications of another.

With the coordination in Tokyo on Thursday, the Mugungwha-5, equipped with 24 commercial terminals can now provide multimedia service to an area covering Japan, China, Taiwan and the Philippines, as well as the Korean Peninsula.

The dual-use satellite, also known as Koreasat-5, carries 12 military relays and will also boost the nation’s plan to build a digital warfare system known as C4I, short for command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence.
