The domestic multipurpose satellite Arirang-Two has succeeded in photographing the suspected site of North Korea's nuclear test in Kilju County, North Hamgyeong Province.
The Science and Technology Ministry and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute disclosed two satellite images taken on October 16th for the first time Tuesday. One is a two-dimensional photo and the other a three-dimensional image.
But both failed to show concrete evidence of a nuclear test such as a change in topography.
The ministry says the National Intelligence Service has been using the satellite for surveillance in North Korea since the country announced its test plan on October 3rd. Three locations in the North have been photographed since, but bad weather prevented the satellite from producing any meaningful photos.
The first successful shot came on October 16th.
