A Seoul National University team says it has developed a technology to mass produce carbon nanotube-based memory elements using existing semiconductor facilities.

The team led by Professor Hong Seung-hoon says the technology uses carbon nanotubes a billionth of a meter thick. or one-eighty-thousand the width of a human hair, to produce advanced transistor circuits and biosensors en masse.

Their findings will be published in the inaugural issue of the Nature Nanotechnology journal.

Hong says that companies at home and abroad have shown keen interest in transferring the technology.
