Team Beats US to Become World Junior Baseball Champs

The national youth baseball team has won the world junior baseball championship by beating the U.S. four-to-three.

In the final match against the U.S. Wednesday in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, the Korean team secured a dramatic win after Im Ik-joon broke a 3-3 tie with a hit in the bottom of the ninth inning.

It's the team’s fourth championship after 1981, 1994, and 2000.

Left-hander Yang Hyun-jong and first baseman Lee Doo-hwan were named best players in their respective positions.
